Muscogee County School District Names Counseling Department After Juanita Carson Booker

During the Muscogee County School Board meeting on June 23, 2025, a significant decision was made to honor the legacy of Miss Juanita Carson Booker by naming the counseling and social work department after her. This tribute recognizes her remarkable 46-year career in education, where she made substantial contributions to the Muscogee County School District.

Miss Booker was the first director of guidance and counseling for the district and played a pivotal role in establishing elementary school counseling services. Her educational journey began in Reynolds, Georgia, and was shaped by strong family values emphasizing education, independence, and faith. She earned multiple degrees, including a bachelor's from Albany State College and a master's from Fort Valley State College, along with a specialist degree from Auburn University.

Throughout her career, Miss Booker served as a classroom teacher for 12 years and held various leadership roles, including 20 years as the director of guidance services for the district. Her dedication extended beyond academics; she was deeply involved in community and civic advocacy, influencing generations of students and educators.
