Brady Sullivan proposes Cigna building redevelopment amid sewer capacity improvements

An engineer, Tom Aspell, has been appointed to design a cross-country sewer system that would avoid extensive roadwork on Route 3, thus reducing costs and permitting challenges.

The board learned that the Heads Pond project has 150 townhouses approved, but the focus will shift to the Cigna building, which has been underutilized. Lewis indicated that the existing Cigna building could accommodate approximately 30 units, contingent on expanding the sewer line. Brady Sullivan is prepared to undertake this expansion, which is separate from the cross-country sewer project.

The proposed plan includes a two-phase approach: the first phase will involve converting the Cigna building, while the second phase will focus on additional buildings once the sewer infrastructure is fully engineered. The board was informed that the design of the Cigna building would incorporate aesthetic improvements, including color coordination and architectural features to enhance its visual appeal.

The meeting concluded with a consensus that the sewer capacity issues would be addressed through this project, ultimately benefiting the entire area. The board anticipates further discussions and a full application from Brady Sullivan in the near future, which will include detailed plans and additional community input.
