Planning Commission Approves Solar Panel Installation at Sewing by Susie on Chicago Road

The Oak Creek Common Council made significant strides towards sustainability during their meeting on July 22, 2025, by approving plans for the installation of roof-mounted solar panels at Sewing by Susie, a local business located at 9867 South Chicago Road. The council unanimously supported the proposal, which includes the installation of 22 flush-mounted solar panels on the building's southwest-facing roof.

Jason Weber, a designer from Arch Solar, presented the project, assuring council members that all necessary permits and inspections would be conducted. The installation is expected to involve a peak workforce of three licensed professionals, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

In addition to the solar panel project, the council reviewed a certified survey map for a property at 4063 East Oakwood Road, submitted by John and Lisa Marshall. This property is currently zoned for residential use and is designated for future single-family detached housing in the city’s comprehensive plan.
