City Council Recognizes Service Milestones and Prepares for National Night Out

The New London City Council meeting on July 15, 2025, highlighted significant community engagement and infrastructure updates. Chief of Police, Officer Ryan Grove, was honored for a decade of dedicated service, while Sergeant Todd Sarazen celebrated 24 years with the department. The police chief also announced the upcoming National Night Out on August 5, which promises friendly competition between local agencies and various activities for residents.

In public works, Director Garski reported the completion of phase one paving on Oshkosh Street, with Wolf River Avenue set to reopen the following morning. Although the first layer of asphalt is laid, Oshkosh Street remains closed to through traffic, allowing only local residents access. Restoration efforts are scheduled to begin this week, with utility work in phase two progressing on schedule despite recent rain.

Utility Manager Mr. Bessette addressed a brief power outage affecting 28 customers on July 14, which was resolved within 30 minutes. He also recognized accountant Melissa Schultz for her 22 years of service with the utilities.
