Rep Thompson advocates funding for Flat Rock Fire Department's new truck acquisition

The estimated cost for the new fire truck is around $789,000, which would be covered by the requested grant of $1 million. This funding would also include necessary equipment, such as stretchers and extrication tools, ensuring the department is fully equipped to handle various emergencies.

The chief noted that the department has explored other options, including used vehicles, but determined that a new model would best serve the community's needs. With a timeline of approximately 200 days for delivery once funding is secured, the urgency of this request is clear. The potential for over 800 emergency calls before a new truck could be acquired highlights the critical need for timely action.
