Marie Bernard, representing Sunnyvale Community Services, spoke during public comment and described rising demand for the pantry. She said more than 10,000 people a year use the pantry and the organization served 3,573 unduplicated households last year, a 43 percent increase since 2020. Bernard told commissioners that higher food prices and cuts to allocations from partner Second Harvest Silicon Valley have increased need, and that the $150,000 would pay about $110,000 for food purchases and about $40,000 toward salary and benefits for a food and nutrition program manager (roughly 40 percent of one full‑time equivalent, as Bernard described it).

Commissioners pressed a few clarifying points about closed or transitioned programs that had been funded in earlier amendments; Hazel explained one county program did not use the funds and several subrecipient programs underspent, which produced the remaining balance for reallocation.
