Pasadena ISD Receives Doctor Page School Safety Award for Excellence in School Security

The Pasadena Independent School District (ISD) Board of Trustees convened on July 22, 2025, to recognize outstanding student achievements and discuss district operations. The meeting commenced with a heartfelt acknowledgment of student athletes who excelled academically and in sports. Notably, Kirsten Rhett Stackinelli from Pasadena High School was celebrated for her second consecutive year on the Academic All-American team. Other honorees included Mia Gomez from Pasadena Memorial High School and Haley Downs from Sam Rayburn High School, both recognized for their achievements in swimming. Levi Del Angel, a recent graduate, was also acknowledged for his impressive swimming accolades and commitment to the University of Saint Thomas.

Following the student recognitions, the board presented the Doctor Rod Page School Safety Award to Pasadena ISD for its dedication to creating a secure learning environment. Brian Hastings, the assistant director of school safety for Region 4, highlighted the significance of the award, named after the first U.S. Secretary of Education, Dr. Rod Page. The award was presented to the Safety in Action and Safety in Leadership teams, which included various district officials and community members committed to enhancing school safety.

The meeting proceeded to the consent agenda, where minutes from previous meetings were approved without opposition. The board also addressed personnel matters, with Ms. Sullivan announcing promotions within the district, including Shannon Garris, who will serve as a diagnostician in the special education department for the upcoming school year.
