Taunton Board Awards Pest Control Contract to Flynn Pest Control for $810 Monthly

The Taunton School Committee made significant strides in their recent meeting on July 23, 2025, approving key contracts and budget allocations that will enhance services for the district.

The committee unanimously awarded a pest control contract to Flynn Pest Control, the current vendor, after reviewing bids from two companies. Flynn's bid of $810 per month, totaling $9,720 annually, was selected for its competitive pricing and comprehensive coverage, which now includes an additional building at 2 Hamilton Street. This decision reflects a $1,200 increase from the previous contract but ensures that all 14 district buildings will receive pest management services.

In another important discussion, the committee reviewed the final update on legal services for special education provided by Lyons Law Group. The total expenditure for the fiscal year reached $82,614.44, which is under the allocated budget of $150,000 for legal services. The committee noted that while this year's legal costs were higher due to ongoing negotiations, they anticipate a decrease in special education-related legal expenses moving forward.

Additionally, the committee approved bills payable for FY '25, amounting to $2,055,064.80. This included final payments for HVAC work across three schools and charges related to a diversity grant aimed at enhancing employment outreach through professional video production.
