Crossroads Community Church plans public event at Ullery Park for local families

A vibrant community event is set to take place at Ullery Park on April 19, 2025, organized by Crossroads Community Church, which anticipates drawing around 350 participants from the local area. The event, designed to be inclusive for the entire community, will feature a unique twist—no real eggs will be used for activities, a decision made to avoid potential issues related to egg shortages and smuggling. Instead, organizers plan to have plenty of candy on hand to ensure that no one leaves empty-handed.

The Park Board meeting on July 25 highlighted the excitement surrounding this upcoming event, with board members expressing their hopes for good weather and a successful turnout. The motion to approve the event was unanimously passed, showcasing strong community support.

In addition to the event, the meeting revealed ongoing developments in local parks, including the installation of six new playgrounds and a fitness zone at Walker Park, all expected to be completed by June 1. A celebration, dubbed "Foundation Fun Day," is planned for June 7 to mark these improvements and foster community engagement with the park foundation.

The board also discussed the importance of community feedback in shaping future projects, with a final public meeting scheduled for April 9 to gather input on the master plan. This initiative aims to enhance local parks based on residents' needs and desires, reflecting a commitment to community involvement.
