During the meeting, a representative from Cactus Pete's Casino highlighted the unique hurdles faced by the small town, which is celebrating its 70th anniversary next year.

The representative noted that while the casino has a loyal workforce, with some team members boasting over 40 years of service, the high turnover rate in the industry remains a significant concern. "Getting the right people is always the challenge," they stated, emphasizing that Jackpot's remote location makes it less accessible for potential employees. To combat this, the casino has implemented measures such as providing free bus transportation from nearby Twin Falls, Idaho, to facilitate daily commutes.

The discussion also touched on the logistical aspects of commuting, with the representative sharing that about half of their staff resides in Twin Falls. They described the drive as straightforward but noted the need for better recognition of Jackpot's unique mountain time zone, which has caused scheduling issues for events.

In addition to staffing, the casino is not resting on its laurels. Plans for expansion are underway, including an increase in gaming space to accommodate more guests. "We are definitely moving forward on a few bigger projects," the representative confirmed, indicating a commitment to growth and improvement.
