DACC Advisory Board Plans Mediation Framework and Upcoming District Programs in Las Cruces

The Gadsden Independent Schools District (GISD) Board convened on July 26, 2025, to discuss several key initiatives and updates impacting the district. A significant focus of the meeting was the upcoming DACC advisory board meeting scheduled for August 26 in Las Cruces, where three members are needed for voting. Board members were encouraged to participate, either in person or virtually.

Another major topic was the introduction of a mediation framework aimed at improving communication between board members and superintendents across New Mexico. This initiative, which Ms. Flores volunteered GISD to participate in, will roll out in phases starting with awareness and training from August to October 2025, followed by a pilot program involving five to seven districts from November 2025 to May 2026. The full implementation is expected by August 2026.

The board also discussed the importance of state accreditation in New Mexico, emphasizing the need for all members to attend training and meetings to stay informed. Additionally, the board is exploring new topics for regional meetings, including school district accreditation and public school advocacy, to enhance accountability and communication among board members.

In community engagement, the board recognized the Santa Teresa ROTC for their active participation in local events over the summer and expressed gratitude for the efforts of staff members, particularly Ms. Rosie Villalobos, for their contributions to communication and outreach.

The meeting concluded with a reminder of the importance of respectful discourse during public comments, as outlined in the board's guidelines. The board is committed to maintaining a constructive environment for discussions and decision-making.
