Alta Vista Early College Students Earn National Recognition in Mesa USA Competition

The Gadsden Independent Schools District (GISD) held a significant school board meeting on July 26, 2025, highlighting student achievements and addressing community concerns. The meeting began with a commendation for the MESA program from Alta Vista Early College High School, where students Adeline Gamboa, Eliana Sanchez, Rogelio Betancur, and David Garcia Cervantes showcased their exceptional skills at the national level. Following the recognition of the students, Mr. Carmona presented updates on parent communication efforts, particularly through the new website and social media platforms. He noted a temporary decline in communication activity due to the summer break but expressed optimism for increased engagement as the school year approaches. The introduction of 94 new website managers aims to enhance communication with the community, ensuring that families remain informed and connected.

Board members also addressed pressing community issues, particularly the recent flooding in the Vado area. Secretary Duraliguez emphasized the emotional and physical challenges faced by affected families, thanking the Gadsden community for their support and outreach efforts.
