Board Approves Extended Hours for Gas Station Near Residential District

Holland City’s Board of Appeals has approved extended operating hours for a local gas station, balancing community convenience with residential concerns. During the meeting on July 24, 2025, board members discussed the application to extend hours, which included opening on Sundays and extending weekday hours until 11 PM.

The board acknowledged the positive feedback from neighbors regarding the gas station's recent renovations, which have improved its functionality and aesthetics. However, concerns were raised about the potential impact of later evening hours on the surrounding residential areas, particularly regarding noise and light pollution.

After deliberation, the board reached a compromise. The approved hours will allow the gas station to operate from 6 AM to 10 PM Monday through Saturday, instead of the requested 11 PM, while Sunday hours will remain from 7 AM to 9 PM. This decision aims to enhance community access to services while respecting the residential character of the neighborhood.
