The Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District (ECISD) Facilities Committee recently discussed significant drainage improvements planned for Edinburg North High School, aiming to address ongoing water management issues. During the meeting, representatives from SDI Engineering outlined the project's progress and timeline, emphasizing collaboration with local partners to ensure successful implementation.

The drainage improvements are set to be completed by December 2025, with key steps already underway. An executive construction easement has been secured, allowing necessary equipment access from Monte Cristo Road. Additionally, the district is in the process of acquiring property from the Dowco County Irrigation District, which is crucial for the project’s execution.

The committee plans to seek board approval for an interlocal agreement involving Hidalgo County and the drainage district, which will facilitate the partnership needed for these improvements. This approval is scheduled for the upcoming board meeting on July 29.

To maintain momentum, SDI Engineering intends to advertise for bids starting July 30, with a pre-bid meeting set for August 11. The bid solicitation will conclude on August 20, followed by a board meeting on August 28 to discuss the proposals. The goal is to select a contractor by September 9, with the contract expected to be finalized by the end of December.
