A proposed medical center is set to transform a vacant building at 17100 Northeast Nineteenth Avenue in North Miami Beach, following a recent City Commission meeting. The Univeta Medical Center is seeking conditional use approval to operate in the existing structure, which is currently zoned for residential office use.
City staff confirmed that no significant changes to the property are required, meaning no site plan approval is necessary. The building will undergo upgrades to accommodate outpatient services, a critical aspect of the proposal. The Planning and Zoning Board previously recommended the project for approval, with a unanimous vote of 5-0, and city officials expressed no awareness of opposition to the plan.
Additionally, the board requested the inclusion of an additional ADA parking space on-site, which the applicant has agreed to provide where feasible. This development is seen as a much-needed enhancement to the area, with city staff emphasizing the importance of the medical services that will be offered.
As the project moves forward, it is anticipated to bring valuable healthcare resources to the community while maintaining the existing structure's integrity. The City Commission's approval marks a significant step toward revitalizing the property and enhancing local healthcare access.
