School Board Approves Separate Spring Break Calendar for 2026-2027

In a recent meeting of the Catawba County Board of Education, members gathered to discuss two proposed school calendars for the 2026-2027 academic year, focusing on the timing of spring break. During the discussion, it was revealed that a survey of staff indicated a preference for the split spring break, with 55.6% supporting this option. Elementary educators expressed a desire for the traditional calendar, emphasizing the need for uninterrupted instructional time leading up to state testing, which is scheduled for May 10-14 for elementary and middle school students, and May 17-21 for high school students.
