San Mateo City Council Plans Community Concerts and National Night Out Events

City Council members expressed enthusiasm for maintaining a key city facility during the recent meeting on July 28, 2025. The facility, located in a prime area, is seen as a valuable resource for San Mateo, with several council members indicating their support for its continued presence in the community.

In addition to the facility discussion, the council highlighted upcoming community events, including the popular concert series in the park, featuring Zydeco music this Thursday from 6 to 8 PM. They also promoted the Central Bark fundraiser, set for August 17, which will celebrate San Mateo's first dog, Mini Mini, and encourage community participation.

Another significant event on the horizon is National Night Out, scheduled for August 5. The kickoff will take place at the Martin Luther King Center at 5 PM, followed by neighborhood block parties throughout the city. Council members urged the San Mateo Police Department to provide a list of block party locations in advance, allowing them to engage with residents across various districts.
