Enbridge updates on Ridgeline Natural Gas Pipeline Project and construction timeline

The Putnam County Commission meeting on July 28, 2025, featured significant updates on the Ridgeline National Natural Gas Pipeline Project, which is poised to impact the local community in various ways. Haskins reported that the project received its certificate from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) in April, allowing it to move forward. The company is currently awaiting permits from the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, with expectations to receive these by August. Construction is anticipated to begin in October or November, with a total timeline of about one year for completion.

A key aspect of the construction process involves tree clearing, which is scheduled to occur between mid-October and April 1. Haskins explained that crews will start at both ends of the project, clearing trees and preparing for trenchless crossings under water bodies. The project will employ approximately 1,200 workers across eight counties, with a focus on local hiring through partnerships with local contractors and educational institutions like TCATs, which will help train workers for various roles needed in the construction process.

In addition to the pipeline update, the meeting also highlighted the efforts of the budget committee, which worked diligently to craft a budget without increasing rates for residents. Committee member Mr. Sandler noted the extensive time and effort put into the budget discussions, emphasizing the importance of maintaining fiscal responsibility while accommodating new hires and services.
