The City of Clearwater Marine Advisory Board welcomed a new member, Dr. Francis Begay, during its meeting on September 13, 2023. Dr. Begay, who was unable to attend the board's initial meeting in June, expressed gratitude for his appointment and shared his background with the board.
Dr. Begay, originally from San Diego, has a rich history in both military and community service. After serving in the Air Force, he pursued a dental education at Loyola University, graduating with honors in 1975. He later completed a residency at Northwestern Medical School and established a dental practice in Highland Park, Illinois. His commitment to community involvement is evident through his leadership roles in local organizations, including serving as president of the Rotary Club and the Historical Society.
The meeting also included discussions about ongoing marine initiatives and future projects aimed at enhancing Clearwater's coastal environment. The board is focused on addressing local marine issues and fostering community engagement in conservation efforts.
As the Marine Advisory Board continues its work, the addition of Dr. Begay is expected to bring valuable insights and expertise to the team, furthering Clearwater's commitment to preserving its marine resources. The board looks forward to his contributions in upcoming discussions and initiatives.
