The Clearwater Public Art & Design Advisory Board has announced a series of exciting initiatives aimed at enhancing the local arts scene and engaging the community. During their recent meeting, board members highlighted the urgency for organizations to submit their funding applications by September 20, as there is $428,850 remaining from the second round of funding, with no expectation of a third round.
In a significant development, the board approved new designs for the mural walls at Coachmen Park, setting the stage for an upcoming "Arts in the Park" event on Sunday, October 29, from 12 PM to 5 PM. This free event will showcase local artists, allowing residents to vote for their favorites. Winning artists will have the opportunity to exhibit their work in public spaces, such as libraries or municipal buildings.
The event will also feature live mural painting, providing attendees with a unique chance to witness the creative process firsthand. The board expressed optimism for good weather and a successful turnout, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in local art initiatives.
Additionally, the unveiling of a new mural by Clearwater artist Beth Forman at the Gateway area was celebrated, with board members encouraging residents to visit and appreciate the vibrant artwork that enhances the community's entrance.
These initiatives reflect Clearwater's commitment to fostering local talent and enriching the cultural landscape, inviting residents to actively participate in the city's artistic endeavors.
