The City of Clearwater's Neighborhood & Affordable Housing Advisory Board announced the successful completion of a significant housing rehabilitation project during their recent meeting on December 12, 2023. The Homeless Empowerment Project (HEP) received $90,000 in funding to renovate eight housing units at the Park Street Apartments, located at 1357 Park Street.
The project, executed by Handiworks Property Services, faced some challenges, particularly in sourcing necessary materials. The contractor reported difficulties in finding shower enclosures, with four out of five fiberglass units arriving cracked and other supplies sustaining damage. Despite these setbacks, the project was completed on budget, demonstrating a commitment to improving affordable housing options in the community.
This initiative is part of Clearwater's ongoing efforts to enhance neighborhood living conditions and support vulnerable populations. The successful rehabilitation of these units is expected to provide much-needed housing for individuals and families in need, reinforcing the city's dedication to addressing homelessness and affordable housing challenges.
