Delaware County Officials Update Solar Ordinance and ADA Transition Plan Progress

The Delaware County Board of Zoning Appeals convened on August 1, 2025, to discuss various updates and ongoing projects within the county. The meeting highlighted significant developments in building permits, transportation planning, and updates to local ordinances.

The director reported that year-to-date, the county has issued a total of 468 permits, including 163 building permits and 139 electrical permits, generating over $104,000 in fees. A key topic was the status of the county's four-year transportation plan, known as DIMTIP. Additionally, the office is updating the Public Transit Human Services Transportation Coordination Plan, which evaluates local transportation needs and services.

The meeting also addressed ongoing updates to the solar ordinance, with a special meeting scheduled for August 12 to discuss proposed changes. The public is encouraged to participate, with doors opening at 5:15 PM.

Another significant development is the creation of a pond ordinance, which Delaware County currently lacks. A draft has been prepared and is undergoing legal review before being presented to the commissioners.

Furthermore, the county is updating its ADA transition plan, assessing accessibility across eight county-owned facilities. Public input is being sought through surveys and meetings.

Lastly, the board discussed revisions to its rules of procedure, with a draft provided for review. A special meeting will be scheduled to discuss these changes before a formal vote at a regular meeting.
