Scott Carpenter Pool Announces Community Lane Openings Beginning August 18

The Boulder City Parks and Recreation Board convened on August 2, 2025, to discuss various updates and changes regarding community swimming facilities, particularly at Scott Carpenter Pool. The meeting highlighted the transition in lane availability as the summer swim season concludes and schools resume.

Recreation Manager Meghan Lohman addressed the board, noting that with the end of summer swim teams in early August, there would be significantly fewer lane reservations at Scott Carpenter Pool. Starting Monday, August 18, the pool will offer open community swim times from 8 AM to 11 AM and 1 PM to 4 PM, providing ample opportunity for residents to enjoy the facility with less congestion. Lohman expressed confidence that these hours would allow for a calmer swimming experience.

The board discussed the importance of effective communication regarding the updated schedule, as recent decisions about facility operations had not yet been reflected on the website. Lohman indicated that the team is working on improving communication to ensure the community is informed about the changes.

Additionally, the board considered the possibility of adjusting the pool's configuration from long course to short course during weekdays, which could enhance accessibility for swimmers. However, Lohman cautioned that any changes would need to be evaluated for their potential impact before implementation.
