Commissioners Approve $10K Bid for EMS Building Exterior Renovation

Seward County officials have approved a significant renovation project for the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) building, allocating $10,000 from American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds for the exterior remodel. The decision was made during the County Commission meeting on August 4, 2025, where commissioners discussed plans to enhance the building's appearance and functionality.

The renovation will include redoing the stucco and painting the exterior to match the color scheme of nearby structures, specifically the hospital. This effort aims to create a cohesive look with the existing stone walls and railings. Commissioner Helm made the motion to waive the purchasing policy to approve the bid from Maestro Concrete, which was seconded by Commissioner Abbott and passed unanimously.

In addition to the exterior work, the meeting provided updates on ongoing projects within the EMS facility. Preparations for grinding the floors are set to begin the following morning, with the first bay scheduled for work. To facilitate this, equipment and supplies have been temporarily relocated to prevent damage during the renovation process.

The commissioners emphasized the importance of these improvements for the EMS building, which plays a critical role in community health and safety. As the project progresses, officials will continue to monitor the renovations to ensure timely completion and minimal disruption to services.
