Pocatello City Council approves $450K grant for airport improvements and various projects

The Pocatello City Council convened on August 7, 2025, to address a range of agenda items, including public hearings, grant agreements, and community donations. Following this, the council accepted a bid from CR Construction LLC for $14,343,790.85 for pavement rehabilitation at the airport, also funded through federal and state grants. The acceptance of this bid was followed by the approval of a perpetual public utility easement for taxi lane construction at the airport, facilitating future hangar development.

The council then moved to approve a state-local agreement for safety improvements at the Main and Arthur pedestrian crossing and Flandreau Drive, which includes a required match payment of $110,852. This agreement was also approved.

In a show of community support, the council accepted a donation of a log splitter for the Nordic Center and a sponsorship agreement from Connections Credit Union for constructing a new clubhouse at Riverside Golf Course. Both donations were met with enthusiasm from council members, highlighting the importance of community partnerships.

The meeting concluded with a resolution amending the future land use map of the comprehensive plan for 2040, designating approximately 82.96 acres for mixed-use development. The council also passed an ordinance clarifying the membership and appointment process for the Investment and Audit Committee.
