Eau Claire Sculpture Tour Celebrates Growth and Community Engagement

During the recent City Council meeting in Eau Claire, community members highlighted the significant impact of local initiatives on the city’s cultural and economic landscape. Maureen McCraeth, representing the Eau Claire Sculpture Tour, shared her personal journey and the evolution of the tour since its inception. She noted that when she arrived in Eau Claire as a college student in 1985, the city lacked attractions that would encourage graduates to stay. The sculpture tour, which has now become the largest of its kind in the country, has transformed downtown Eau Claire into a vibrant destination, drawing residents and visitors alike.

McCraeth emphasized that the tour not only showcases art but also revitalizes the downtown area, encouraging people to explore and engage with the community. However, she acknowledged the financial challenges the tour has faced, underscoring the need for continued support to maintain its success.
