District Celebrates Academic Success of Bilingual and Special Education Students

In a recent meeting of the Victoria Independent School District (VISD) Board, the focus was on the academic progress of diverse student groups, including emergent bilingual, special education, and economically disadvantaged students. The discussion highlighted the district's commitment to ensuring that all students, regardless of their background, are achieving high levels of learning and growth.

The board celebrated the achievements of several elementary schools that earned multiple designations for their performance. Veil Leon, Mission Valley, Roland, Schallermer, Torres, Smith's STEM Academy, and Vickers Elementary were recognized for their efforts in closing the achievement gap. Notably, Schallermer Elementary received three designations, while Valley Elementary's Mustangs earned four out of six possible designations. Torres and Vickers Elementary also excelled, with Vickers achieving five out of six designations.
