Sergeant Josh Fritz introduces new school resource officer program in Silent Springs

The Siloam Springs School District's Board of Education meeting on August 14, 2025, highlighted significant changes in the School Resource Officer (SRO) program, with the introduction of new leadership and a commitment to community safety education.

Lieutenant Bartley, who has been promoted to lead the Special Operations Division and Community Relations, was recognized for her contributions as the former sergeant of the SROs. With over a decade of service in the Siloam Springs Police Department, Fritz expressed his enthusiasm for leading the team and shared insights into the history and achievements of the SRO program, which has been operational for nearly 30 years.

Fritz emphasized the program's proactive approach to safety, noting its establishment prior to the national surge in SRO programs following the Columbine tragedy in 1999. He highlighted the program's innovative training initiatives, including active shooter response training for law enforcement and community businesses, showcasing their commitment to staying ahead of safety challenges.

The meeting also underscored the SRO team's accomplishments, including participation in the Arkansas Safe Schools Association and the development of educational programs on critical topics such as drug awareness and internet safety. Fritz's introduction of his team and their ongoing efforts to engage with students, staff, and parents reflect a strong dedication to fostering a safe and informed school environment.
