Parks Initiative Plans Water Obstacle Course and Fishing Safety Program in Copperas Cove

Highlands Parks and Recreation is set to launch exciting new outdoor programs aimed at enhancing community engagement and boosting local tourism. During a recent advisory board meeting, members discussed a range of initiatives, including the introduction of hunting and boating education, outdoor skills camps, and a unique water attraction called "Wozone."

The Wozone project, inspired by a visit to Grapevine, Texas, features an inflatable water obstacle course designed to attract thrill-seekers and families alike. Proposed locations for this attraction include Copperas Branch Park and Pilot Knoll, with plans to activate these parks in a way that draws visitors and encourages them to explore local businesses. "This initiative is about bringing wallets into the city," emphasized a board member, highlighting the potential economic benefits.

In addition to the Wozone, the board is also focusing on promoting fishing within the community. A new program aims to provide young anglers with collapsible fishing gear, allowing them to safely transport their equipment while riding scooters to local fishing spots.
