Alamance County Planning Board Debates New Land Use Map and Development Ordinances

A significant shift in land use policy is on the horizon for Alamance County, as the planning board has presented a new proposal aimed at managing growth and preserving the county's rural character. During the August 18, 2025, Commissioners Meeting, the board discussed a comprehensive plan that includes a new land use map, amendments to the subdivision ordinance, and a rural preservation ordinance.

The proposal, which received a favorable vote from the planning board, seeks to address concerns about residential sprawl and protect property values.
