Indian River Court Operations Seek Additional $40,000 for Transportation Services

The consultant also mentioned a request for $75,000 for the upcoming fiscal year to continue supporting participants in problem-solving courts, which assist individuals with substance use issues, mental health disorders, or military backgrounds.

The board discussed the three types of problem-solving courts in Indian River County: adult drug court, mental health court, and veterans treatment court. These courts provide diversion programs that allow participants to complete treatment programs in lieu of traditional sentencing, thereby reducing recidivism rates and promoting successful reintegration into society. The consultant highlighted that the current funding has enabled services for 96 participants, including drug testing and transportation assistance.
