Abilene Officials Provide Update on Multiple Ongoing Construction Projects

The Abilene Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) convened on August 19, 2025, to discuss ongoing and upcoming construction projects in the region. The meeting began with an update on various construction sites, highlighting progress and challenges faced by the city.

Upcoming projects include a new barrier median on Winters Freeway and the widening of FM 1235, both set to commence in September. The repaving of State Highway 351 is also on the agenda, with work expected to start in October.

During the meeting, questions arose regarding the status of the signal at South Fourteenth and Winters Freeway. The MPO representative confirmed that the final piece, a service pole, is delayed but expected to be delivered soon, allowing for the reactivation of the signal.
