Fire Department Secures Budget for Advanced Camera System and New Firehouse Design

The Town of Brownsburg's Fire Territory Executive Board has approved a significant budget modification aimed at enhancing the town's emergency response capabilities. During the meeting on August 19, 2025, board members discussed the need for improved camera systems for fire vehicles, which will now feature a subscription-based WiFi system. This upgrade will allow for continuous recording and real-time notifications if a camera goes offline, addressing previous issues where cameras were not functioning properly during critical incidents.

The new system will store data in the cloud, ensuring that footage is accessible even if the WiFi connection is temporarily lost. The annual cost for this service is set at $9,200, which covers all necessary equipment without additional fees for future camera installations as the fleet expands.

In addition to the camera upgrades, the board also approved funding for hiring an owner representative to oversee the construction of a new firehouse. This 24-month contract will facilitate the design and building process, which is expected to take approximately 16 to 18 months once initiated. The representative will help ensure that the project meets the community's needs and adheres to budgetary constraints.

The board emphasized the importance of these upgrades, noting that the new firehouse is intended to serve the community for decades. The design phase is currently underway, with a focus on creating a facility that meets the evolving demands of the fire department.
