Bexar County Veterans Services Director Unveils Funding for Assistance Programs

Bexar County's commitment to supporting veterans took center stage at the recent Commissioners Court meeting, where Keith Wilson, director of the Department of Military and Veterans Services, presented a comprehensive report on the Texas Veterans Commission's funding for veteran assistance programs. Wilson detailed the allocation of funds, noting that $425,000 was designated for financial assistance, which has already helped over 1,900 families. The second grant of $300,000 focused on mental health support through a peer support program. This initiative has engaged veterans in various activities, from fishing trips to therapy sessions, fostering a sense of community and belonging among participants. Wilson shared inspiring stories of veterans like Heather and Maurizio, who have benefited from these programs, illustrating the profound impact on their lives and well-being.
