Del Valle ISD Launches New School Year with Family Day and High Accountability Ratings

The Del Valle Independent School District (ISD) kicked off the new school year with a vibrant celebration, marking a promising start for students and staff alike. Superintendent's first day in the role was filled with excitement as campuses buzzed with energy, showcasing proud parents, eager students, and joyful classrooms.

A highlight of the week was the introduction of "DBISD Family Day," where central administration and board members rolled up their sleeves to support teachers and staff in preparing for the school year. This initiative emphasized teamwork and a shared commitment to student success.

Thanks to the Texas YES Project, every elementary student in Del Valle ISD received a free school supply kit, ensuring they were well-equipped for the year ahead. The district also celebrated its impressive financial management, achieving a superior A rating under the Texas First Financial Integrity System, scoring 96 out of 100.

In a significant achievement, Hillcrest Elementary soared from a D rating to an A rating, while Collins and Smith Elementary maintained their B ratings with multiple state distinctions. Overall, 10 out of 14 rated schools improved or maintained high performance, reflecting the hard work of students, teachers, and community support.

The board of trustees is set to adopt new district goals aimed at guiding the district towards high achievement over the next five years, following feedback from parents at a recent town hall meeting. The meeting also welcomed new trustee Jason Sierra, who is expected to bring fresh perspectives to the district.
