Atlanta County Secures $3M for New Public Works Trucks and Kronos Software Upgrade

DeKalb County is set to enhance its public works capabilities with the approval of a significant purchase during the recent OPS Committee Meeting. The committee approved a request to acquire 19 crew cab trucks for the Department of Watershed Management, totaling $3,757,877. These trucks will play a crucial role in transporting work crews and equipment to various job sites across the county. The purchase will be made through a competitively bid statewide contract with Rush Truck Centers of Georgia Inc.

In addition to the truck acquisition, the committee discussed a vital upgrade to the county's timekeeping and labor management system. The Department of Innovation and Technology is moving forward with a contract to upgrade the Kronos software to a cloud-based platform, with an investment of $2,464,334. This upgrade is essential as the current version is nearing its end of life. The new system will streamline timekeeping and scheduling processes, integrating seamlessly with the county's HR and payroll systems. The implementation is expected to take three years, with benefits including improved efficiency for departments, particularly for the fire and rescue services that require complex scheduling.
