Houston Proclaims August 1 to 9 as Restaurants Week to Celebrate Local Cuisine

The Houston City Council meeting held on August 19 and 20, 2025, began with a proclamation declaring August 1 through September 1, 2025, as Houston Restaurants Week. Following the restaurant week proclamation, Council Member Alcorn introduced another proclamation recognizing August as Gun Safety Month on behalf of Council Member Kamen, who was unable to attend due to illness. Bill O'Dell, board treasurer of Lock Arms for Life, joined Alcorn to support the initiative aimed at promoting gun safety awareness.
