"The truancy issue just did not reappear for us to address in a formal way when school started in August," Vargas stated, highlighting the proactive engagement of property management and safety officers. However, she acknowledged challenges with cooperation at another location, indicating ongoing efforts to monitor youth activities as the school year progresses.

In a significant push for mental health support, the council discussed the success of the newly launched wellness clinic, which has provided over 122,000 clinical encounters for individuals in need. This facility, vital for first responders and city employees, offers immediate mental health assistance without the need for emergency room visits. "These are all valuable services that are housed in District 8," Vargas emphasized, advocating for continued support of such initiatives.

Councilman Casillo Guiana reinforced the notion that public safety extends beyond traditional law enforcement.
