Nichols Construction plans major storage warehouse addition on Thatcher Street

Bangor's Planning Board has taken a significant step forward in local development by approving the completeness of a major site development application for Nichols Construction during their recent meeting on August 19, 2025. The project involves an addition to the existing storage warehouse located at 100 Thatcher Street, aimed at enhancing the company's operational efficiency.

The board confirmed that all necessary fees were paid and that the application met the required standards for review. With no conflicts of interest raised, the board unanimously voted to accept the application as complete, allowing the project to move forward.

Justine Drake, a civil engineer representing Nichols Construction, presented the details of the proposed addition. The expansion will provide indoor storage for materials currently kept outside, protecting them from the elements. The design includes matching existing entrances and lighting, ensuring minimal disruption to the current site layout. Notably, the project will not require additional utilities, as it is strictly for storage purposes.

In a move to comply with accessibility standards, the company plans to add an ADA-compliant parking space within the existing lot. However, there will be no increase in parking spaces or operational capacity, as the addition is not expected to change the number of employees or the nature of the business.
