County Board Appoints New Equalization Board Members and Prepares for County Fair

The Amherst County Board of Supervisors convened on August 19, 2025, to discuss several key issues, including appointments to the Board of Equalization and updates on local projects and events.

The Treasurer's report provided positive financial updates, indicating that the county has collected 93% of real estate taxes for 2025 and 98% for personal property taxes from 2020 to 2024. The Treasurer also announced a new approach to dog licensing, which will include information inserts in personal property tax bills to reduce costs associated with mailing notifications.
