City Council Welcomes New Employees Jesse Johnson and Jennifer Ward to Key Positions

The City of Dallas, Oregon, welcomed new talent during its City Council Business Meeting on May 2, 2025, highlighting significant personnel changes that aim to enhance community services.

Economic and Community Development Director Charlie Mitchell introduced Jesse Johnson as the new permit technician, who began his role on April 28. Johnson, a graduate of the building inspection program at Chemeketa Community College, is set to advance to a building inspector position as he gains further certifications. This hiring follows the retirement of longtime building official Troy Skinner and the subsequent promotion of Chris Reichenold to fill that role.

In another key announcement, Public Works Director Gary Marks, who has served the city for five years, is set to retire at the end of May. The council appointed Jennifer Ward, a familiar face within the department, as his successor, effective July 1. This decision reflects the city’s commitment to continuity and effective leadership in public works.

Additionally, Fire Chief Wallace introduced Kyle Orozco, a firefighter paramedic currently training as a Field Training Officer. Orozco's recruitment is part of the department's efforts to bolster its emergency response capabilities.
