League City Completes Mural Projects to Beautify Sportsplex and Community Areas

The League City Convention and Visitors Advisory Board meeting held on August 20, 2025, focused on several community beautification projects aimed at enhancing the visual appeal of the city.

The meeting began with updates on ongoing mural projects. A local artist is nearing completion of a mural at the Sportsplex, which is expected to be finished by the end of the month. This project aims to transform an area previously considered an eyesore, located near the main parking lot off Walker Street. The artist utilized a lift to reach the high surfaces, indicating the scale of the work involved.

Additionally, the board discussed the progress of five traffic box murals, with the first completed at the intersection of Walker Street and Victory Lakes. This mural was created by a new resident artist who has recently moved to League City. Another traffic box mural near the entrance to Lowe's and Walmart has also been completed, although the board member did not have the opportunity to view it in person.

The meeting highlighted an exciting new collaboration with the Masonic Lodge, where artist Adam Sosie will paint a mural on their building adjacent to Lee Park. This building has been noted for its lack of aesthetic appeal, and the mural is anticipated to enhance the visual landscape of the area, particularly given the proximity to the historic park.

Overall, the meeting underscored the board's commitment to improving the community's appearance through art and local talent, with several projects set to be completed by the end of September.
