Lexington Celebrates Business Month and Opens Community Paramedicine Facility

The Lexington Board of Architectural Review meeting on August 20, 2025, highlighted significant developments in the city’s ongoing 250th Anniversary Celebration, particularly focusing on Business Month. This month-long initiative aims to honor the legacy of local businesses, ranging from small shops to large corporations, that contribute to Lexington's rich history.

During the meeting, Commerce Lexington President and CEO Bob Kwik emphasized the importance of local businesses in shaping the community. He noted that Lexington is recognized as one of the highest-ranked cities in the United States, attributing this success to the efforts of past generations. Kwik announced several key events planned for Business Month, including a salute to small businesses during a Lexington Legends game on August 13 and a Small Business Luncheon on August 15, where outstanding local businesses will be recognized.

In addition to celebrating business achievements, the meeting also marked the official opening of a new facility for the community paramedicine program. This initiative, which began in 2018, aims to provide proactive healthcare services to individuals with complex needs, such as those struggling with substance use or behavioral health issues. Mayor Linda Gorton, a registered nurse, expressed her support for the program, highlighting its role in improving patient outcomes and reducing the burden on emergency services.

The meeting underscored the city's commitment to fostering a vibrant business community while also addressing public health needs through innovative programs.
