Project Manager Angela Launches Air Quality Initiative in Laredo, Florida

The Laredo City Council meeting on August 18, 2025, spotlighted a significant initiative aimed at improving air quality in the region. Dr. Angela, a project manager for the Border 2025 project, along with her colleague Christy Bryant, unveiled their efforts to install hyperlocal air monitoring sensors throughout Laredo and neighboring areas.

The project, part of the National Community Air Monitoring initiative, aims to provide residents with real-time data on air quality, specifically focusing on PM 2.5 levels. This data is accessible through a public-facing dashboard on the Brisk website, allowing community members to stay informed about local air conditions.

Dr. Angela emphasized the project's commitment to community engagement, highlighting the establishment of a biannual air council open to all stakeholders. This council aims to foster collaboration among residents, especially seniors and future generations, to enhance air quality awareness and improvement efforts.

In addition to the sensor installations, the team has conducted workshops and information sessions on federal air quality regulations. They are also set to launch a webinar series designed to educate the community about air quality issues and promote awareness among students and residents alike.
