Laredo City Council approves $92K contract for AECOM ethylene oxide air monitoring

Laredo's City Council has taken a significant step towards enhancing air quality monitoring in the community by approving a contract for ethylene oxide ambient air monitoring. During the meeting on August 18, 2025, the council authorized the city manager to award a contract to AECOM, a company based in Austin, Texas, for a total cost not to exceed $92,856. This funding will cover field monitoring, community outreach, and the purchase of new sampling equipment.

The initiative, led by the Laredo Public Health Department's air quality division, aims to address concerns regarding ethylene oxide emissions, particularly given the high levels of sterilization activity in the area.
