During a recent Commissioners Court special meeting, discussions centered on the urgent need for additional space for the District Attorney's office, which is currently operating beyond its capacity.

Kenda Culpepper, the District Attorney, emphasized the legal requirements for office space, stating that the current setup is inadequate for the staff needed to handle the county's growing caseload. "By law, we are out of space," she noted, highlighting the critical need for enclosed offices to securely manage sensitive information.

The proposed expansion, estimated at $962,500, has raised concerns among commissioners about budget constraints and the potential for delays. "It's a lot of money," one commissioner remarked, questioning whether the county could allocate funds for both the office expansion and other projects, such as lighting upgrades.
