During the recent City Council meeting on August 4, 2025, Pastor Justin McCall of Christ United Methodist Church highlighted a successful summer lunch program that served the children of Napoleon. This initiative, in partnership with the Northwest Ohio Community Action Commission (NOCAC), provided hundreds of meals to local kids during June and July.
Pastor McCall celebrated the program's evolution, noting that for the first time, Henry County Hospital served as the food provider, eliminating the need to source meals from Fulton County. Additionally, Henry County Transportation facilitated transportation for children, ensuring they could access the meals from various locations in the community.
Looking ahead, McCall expressed hope that these services would continue next year, despite changes in the program's structure. He also shared that the church took the initiative to provide lunch bags for weekends and holidays, ensuring that children did not go without meals during those times.
The council members expressed their appreciation for the program and its positive impact on the community, recognizing it as a testament to the commitment of local organizations to support the well-being of children in Napoleon. This collaborative effort underscores the importance of community engagement in addressing food insecurity among youth.
