Boca Raton City Council Approves $2.68M Easement Sale for Telecommunications Project

The Boca Raton Planning and Zoning Board has taken a significant step towards enhancing telecommunications infrastructure in the area by approving the sale of an easement within Spanish River Park. The easement, covering approximately 0.493 acres, will allow Flexus Cable USA to install underground telecommunication cables, connecting Boca Raton to Puerto Barros and improving data reliability and security between the U.S. and the Caribbean.

During the meeting, property specialist Anne Hathaway detailed the proposal, emphasizing that the easement is divided into two segments: Easement A on the west side of A1A and Easement B on the east side. The total appraised value of the easement is $2,684,000, with the applicant having already submitted a 10% deposit of $268,400 as required by city regulations.

The board confirmed that all necessary criteria for the sale, including a recent appraisal and a payment schedule, have been met. The next steps involve presenting the ordinance to the City Council for approval on August 26, 2025, followed by a first reading on September 9, 2025.
