Mayor Steve Mason receives William J. Pickstick Regional Excellence Award in Cedar Hill

Cedar Hill Mayor Steve Mason was honored with the prestigious William J. Pitstick Regional Excellence Award during the City Council meeting on June 24, 2025. The award, presented by Judge Little, recognizes Mason's significant contributions to regional cooperation and leadership in North Texas.

Judge Little highlighted Mason's commitment to regionalism, emphasizing that the award is named after William Pitstick, who founded the North Central Texas Council of Governments in 1968. Mason, who is serving his third term as Cedar Hill's first African American mayor, has been instrumental in fostering collaboration among local governments to address shared challenges in the rapidly growing Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Under Mason's leadership, Cedar Hill has seen notable advancements, including the development of a nationally recognized library and park, as well as the expansive Lagoon aquatic facility.
