WISD Honors Students and Staff for Outstanding Achievements at Recognition Ceremony

The Waxahachie Independent School District (WISD) Board of Trustees convened on May 5, 2025, to celebrate the achievements of students and staff in a meeting held at their downtown location. The session commenced with a prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance, led by students from Wahlman’s team, setting a tone of gratitude and community spirit.

The meeting's primary focus was on recognizing individuals who have made significant contributions to the school district. Principal Kate Authier of Weilmanstein School highlighted the heroic actions of music teacher Miss Lauren Allen, who saved a student’s life by performing the Heimlich maneuver during a lunch period. The student, Beau, was present and expressed his gratitude, stating that Miss Allen had saved his life.

Following this recognition, Linda Solis, the bilingual ESL director, presented awards to the first group of eighth graders who completed the dual language program at Howard Junior High. This program not only signifies their academic dedication but also their achievement in becoming bilingual, with many students earning high school credits in Spanish.

Blake Harrison, the director of career and technical education, then took the floor to acknowledge the accomplishments of WISD's Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs. He reported that the WISD FFA program had an impressive 172 entries this year, showcasing the students' commitment and hard work over the past six months.

The meeting underscored the district's commitment to celebrating student success and fostering a supportive educational environment. The board expressed pride in the achievements of both students and staff, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in the educational process. The session concluded with a sense of optimism for future endeavors within the Waxahachie ISD.
